Originally designed in the late 1950s by Gene Hamm — a North Carolinian and collaborator of Robert Trent Jones — Pine Lake’s course has long been celebrated for its timeless layout and natural flow. In 1988, acclaimed architect John LaFoy led a major renovation, bringing his experience from Augusta National and his admiration for Donald Ross to each hole. The result: A course rich with character, variety, and classic appeal. 

Modern Enhancements for
Today’s Golfer

Pine Lake underwent an exciting transformation. Led by Jeff Lawrence, in partnership with Aspen Golf, this renovation includes rebuilt tee boxes, bunkers, and greens, along with a fully updated irrigation system. Golfers can expect larger, more versatile putting surfaces, increased pin placement options, strategically positioned bunkers, and new collection areas that invite creative shotmaking. These enhancements will ensure a world-class playing experience for years to come.
